  • 10am - america east championships

the warm-up:
around the campus, plus a few strides right before the race. steered clear of the hills as much as possible.

the race:
went out really conservative b/c of the hill. didn’t really get into race mode until after the hill which set me back. tried to go but didn’t start rolling until there was about 3/4 of a mile left. having gone out easily i was left w/ a big kick at the end, but that’s nothing to be proud of. finished in 20:04…probably equal to about 19:20 or so at franklin. good for 27th. not the best race, but not the worse. however, the team had a great showing and WE WON :-D

the cool-down:
around the neighborhood near-by. felt exhausted, just wanted to sleep.

the celebration:
after a long bus ride home dressed up as superheroes and hit-up a sweet halloween shindig :)

  • 4pm - binghamton - 4.5mi

ran the course plus a bit extra. strides on the track along w/ 2×200m. strides felt real good. the course is awesome…a climb for pretty much the 1st mile, then some rolling hillage and eventually back down to the finish. almost similar to holmdel, except with the bowl just added on to the uphill at the start (and the downhill part of the bowl added to the end). the ground is covered in mud and leaves and it is beautiful! so cross country, i love it.

  • 4pm - brookline meander - 6mi

ran out to the ttc then a really nice and relaxed run w/ anne, mollie, and katherine. wandered around aimlessly and eventually ended back at the ttc. didn’t feel anything in my shin. i think it’s probably just from always wearing the frees so i’m trying to wear other shoes to class and whatnot now. anne and i followed it up w/ dinner at t-anthony’s ooooh yeaa

the money is in the bank, now the check’s gotta be cashed.

…leaving for binghamton in the morning.

ON THE BUS! AT LAST!

  • 4pm - marky mark -8mi

started and ended at the ttc. recovery run, but i’m feeling good. i have that sharp feeling which is always nice. i was afraid my calves would be really tight from running on the track yesterday, but they are fine. still feel something weird in my right shin, but it’s not bad. if it gets worse i’ll do something (or if it’s around next week). not going to be stupid, but it’s definitely not at that point. good times playing family feud…kinda forgot we were running coming back along the riverway. really good, relaxed run, exactly what the day called for.

soooo excited for america east on saturday. trying to stay relaxed, but i can’t stop thinking about it. …makes studying for exams all the more interesting. ughhh

on a crazy sidenote: i am actually really sad that xc is winding down. never would’ve saw that one coming.

  • 4pm - ttc - 7mi

really nasty out today (rain and strong winds) so we were inside. ran down to the ttc, warmed-up then 6×800m w/ 1:40 (except for the last 2 8’s, we got 2 laps between). all in 2:45. a short cooldown inside. felt good, just cruising. weird to be running on the track. ice bathed after for 10 minutes b/c I know my legs will be angry tomorrow, which is always the case after the first workout on the track. light abs in glenn’s.

america east saturday — gotta be ready to step up.

  • 9am - res - 9mi

tim and india (brother and sister-in-law) are here for the weekend, so i got in some abbage prior to the workout in an effort to maximize my time w/ them later today. the usual warm-up then 8×2:00 w/ 1:40. felt strong, overall a good workout. slight, dull pain in my right shin. worries me a little b/c it’s one specific spot. didn’t feel it during the runs though so it’s probably fine.

bc was at the res too. ewww

  • 4pm - fens - 7.5

finally not a 10/5 day! a nice easy jaunt (w/ the company of julia nazzer!) around the fens, past some creepy dudes..make that many creepy dudes (not the guys’ team), 2x. then some stridage on the cinder track (ja?) 6×100. legs actually felt like they might be able to go which was exciting. ran straight home from there. i’ve felt like crap all day w/ a headache and tiredness. i think it’s just from all this tension, you know? claire told me i should probably lighten up and laugh and smile a bit more. i’m working on it, it’s just hard cuz i’m so dang serious.

nice run - sure as hades beats freaking museum o’ science.

run highlights include:
-*2* patches of wet cement on park drive, which now have our handy-work in them forever
- one of the creepy dudes noticing that we were “short one” our second time around when we were sans the canadianne.
- the girl missing her husky card. this wasn’t a real highlight, but i felt there should be at least 3 highlights to make this section worth while.
