  • run: 12.5 miles

worked out with the triathlon club. did a long 4 mile warm-up followed by 6×800 with 1 lap recovery, then a 3.5 cool-down. the 800s were broken up into the first 600 which was run evenly, then a slower 100, followed by a fast final 100. the pace was easyish (around 3:10). first run at altitude and it felt good. the track was dirt which was actually really nice to run on.

  • hike: 4 miles

a nice hike right off of I-70 with jordan, tim, and india. we weren’t able to do the whole thing b/c the snow got too deep.

  • run: 6.5 miles (omaha, nebraska)

i’ve never sweat so much in my life. did an out and back run along 10th. going out was entirely uphill and against the wind. coming back was better hill-wise, but without the wind the heat made it much worse. definitely cool to run in some different places. i only saw 2 other people out running. i’m pretty sure everyone else was at church.

  • run: 5.5 miles (chicago, illinois)

woke-up at a reasonable hour after a late night out on the town in chicago. did a loop at a near-by park then did 20 minutes out and back on the roads. felt alright - definitely not used to any sort of heat. it felt brutal.

  • run: 10 miles

ran at manasquan res. felt really good considering this was my longest run in a long time. figured i wouldn’t be able to get a long run in on the road so i got it done today. excellent. leaving home this evening and then leaving from tim and india’s at the crack of dawn tomorrow.

  • run: 7 miles

1 mile warm-up then 4 miles at a harder pace, followed by a 2 mile cool-down. kristin accompanied me via bike and provided ample entertainment (we played “i’m going to a picnic” for the first two and a half miles).
