  • am: run - 6.5mi

an easy lap around the boulder res plus a little bit extra. fortunate to not see any snakes, however the following sign caught my eye:

  • pm: lift, bike ~ 5mi

a quick lift w/ some abs and a jog to the gym and back before heading to denver for a bike ride w/ jordan. we did some loops at wash park..easy for him, not so much for me.

  • am: cross fit - 3mi

legs felt slightly lead-like.

  • pm: run - 8mi

went to the bobolink trailhead and headed south on the boulder creek trail. started off feeling nicht so gut. did the middle 28 minutes at a quicker pace (miles aren’t marked so i have no idea how fast they were). the second half was way better than the first, my legs actually started moving and i stayed nice and relaxed. i might’ve been trying to force it too much at the get-go. about a mile and half into the run i was nearly run over by a tractor. don’t see that too much. also ran into a mr. carl kinney on the return trip who joined me for a minute or two. all in all the best kind of run: one that starts terribly and ends up being very satisfying.

  • run - 10mi

5 out and 5 back on the highline canal with jordan. definitely one of the best places to run: every mile is marked and it’s a nice dirt trail that’s pretty much flat. sported my new nike free trails, which felt excellent.

went up to loveland for jordan’s triathlon (which he won!). i rode around during the bike portion of the race. felt good, i was able to ride w/ a lady who was also out watching the triathlon (actually a coach) so that made it easier.

  • pm: run - 7mi

went to a trail just northwest of boulder res (eagle trail/sage trail/51st st). did 30 seconds on/60 off. didn’t go too well b/c it was literally hot as hades and i was certain i would keel over on the side of the trail and the rattlesnakes would get me. i made it back to the car, but just barely. i saw a frog who was even worse off: he actually got baked in the middle of the road. he was charred!

  • am: 3mi cross-fit

some people claim that superstardom seemed to come overnight. now i know what this feels like first hand: i woke up this morning to find i had become the face of boulder soccer fans.

i just hope this doesn’t interfere with my training.

rode around nice and leisurely for a bit this evening. went out east on the boulder creek path, then took a different path back. i love how much this city caters to bikers/pedestrians, it’s great. you never really have to worry about crossing busy roads or stopping at intersections because the paths go under the roadways. paradise, really.

anywho, as i was riding i came to a small field that was crawling with prairie dogs. being the east coast city-slicker that i am, of course i stopped and took their picture:

some people don’t like prairie dogs, but i love them and think that along with some of those hamster tubes they would make an ideal pet.
